Appealing Centrelink Decisions
Centrelink has well-established procedures so that customers can appeal against Centrelink decisions. It is a customer’s right to appeal, and appeals can change the outcome of Centrelink decisions. Click here for further information.
A decision can be any Centrelink action such as:
- Centrelink refusing to pay a claim
- Centrelink reducing or cutting a payment
- Centrelink advising of a debt.
There are three different levels of the appeal process to work through. For more information check the Centrelink website for ‘Appeals – how to appeal against a Centrelink decision’.
This booklet is available in five community languages.
On this site you will also find more information about appeals, and contact details for Welfare Rights Network member services that can provide more information.
Appealing is not the same as making a complaint. If customers are not happy with the way Centrelink staff have treated them, or disagreed with Centrelink policy or procedures they can make a complaint to Centrelink. A form for making complaints can be found on the Welfare Rights Website.
