Working with money
Do my values and attitudes about money show when I'm talking money matters with families?
We all have personal values and attitudes to money. If we’re aware of these it can help us to work out how to avoid placing inappropriate or unrealistic expectations on families who may not share our goals.
Click on any of the statements below, and find out how to manage some of the practice issues you may face if this statement reflects your values and attitudes about money.
- I get frustrated when I see people wasting money on cigarettes and other behaviours that do them harm
- I dont understand why people won't take advice about managing better when they obviously need it
- I find it hard when I see people putting their drug use before their children's needs
- Some of my clients are sending money back to family overseas when they aren't really coping here. I think their priorities are wrong
- I don't understand how families can have the latest huge TV or game box, but still not have the money to pay the power bill
- I don't know how people can rely on handouts- I would feel so ashamed
