Feedback observations about the family’s money situation in a sensitive way

Just as family support workers may observe parents’ guidance of their children or household management, incidental contact with a family can give you a lot of information about their money skills, or about bits of the money picture that don’t make sense. If you do this sensitively, so the parent doesn’t feel too defensive, you may be able to open up discussion of the details of their financial circumstances.

Families will be more likely to respond if they can see that you may have something positive to offer.
