Highlight ways in which you can help families who have money worries

Families are more likely to open up about money issues if they can see that you have something to offer. You can highlight this by:

  • Including examples of assisting families with money issues whenever you describe the kind of help you may be able to give
  • Build links with specialist services such as financial counsellors so that you can refer families with confidence, to someone with whom you have a connection
  • Display posters or pamphlets about financial issues and financial counselling in your office.

If your service has access to financial resources, such as vouchers for food or utilities, you may be able to use these to encourage a family to set goals around financial management.
