When to Refer to a Centrelink Social Worker or Other Specialist Officer?
Centrelink Social Workers can provide counselling, support and referral to Centrelink customers who face difficult personal or family issues. They can also assist with claims for payments from Centrelink.
Examples of situations where a Centrelink social worker could help include:
- Young people who don’t have family support
- People affected by domestic or family violence
- People who have recently separated
- Families where a partner, parent or child has just died
- People who have a family member affected by a disability or severe medical condition
- People who are at risk of homelessness.
